Save the date!

Thanks to everyone who came out the LSRS fest earlier this month! The Borough of State College's Sustainability Committee is excited to announce we have set a date for next year's event.  We could not have done this without the support of our vendors, participants, and partners! Your positive feedback has helped jumpstart plans for next  year.

Please mark your calendars for next years LSRS fest which will be held on September 28, 2013. We are seeking 5 dedicated volunteers to represent the State College sustainability community by assisting in planning the festival.  If you are interested in helping put on the festival next year, please email us at lsrsfestival@gmail.com

Our energy system is unsustainable; relying on burning fossil fuels roughly a million times faster than nature put them away for us.  If we burn the fossil fuels, and then learn new options, we will have changed the atmosphere and climate in ways that make life much harder for most people, and many other species.  However, great options are available for sustainable energy.  History shows that we have made huge changes in our energy system in the past, relying heavily on something, using it until problems arose, and then switching.  Options for doing so again, with their advantages and disadvantages, will be discussed.
