Participants (and grant money) are rolling in!

The first round of emails inviting participants to register for the Light Step, Right Step festival and Energy Expo were sent out last week and we have already begun to receive applications! Businesses, school groups, and local nonprofits such as CATA, Envinity, Nittany Mountain Biking Association, Green Irene and the Penn State Learning Factory have applied to be a part of this festival. Thanks for your quick response and we are so excited to have you!

Good news and good spirits abound as we have just received notification that we were awarded grant funding from the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund, a nonprofit established by the West Penn Power Company and the Pennsylvania Utilities Commission. The mission of the WPPSEF is to "promote the use of renewable fuel and clean energy; promote energy conservation and energy efficiency; and promote the start-up, attraction, expansion, and retention of sustainable energy businesses." Sounds good to us! We are really looking forward to showcasing the businesses, community groups, and schools at the festival  that are promoting, building, and teaching alternative energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices in the Centre Region.

Please email us if you would like to be involved or know of any businesses or community groups that fit our criteria to be a part of the festival. The members of the Steering Committee from the Borough of State College and Transition Town State College shared email address is: lsrsfestival@gmail.com.
